Adrian's eyes darkened. Seeing Serena's cool, indifferent expression, he pulled Hailey tighter into his embrace, his voice cold. "Why should you move? You're the one who should be sitting next to me now."
As he spoke, his gaze remained fixed on Serena's face, searching for any flicker of emotion.
But the girl's expression remained impassive, completely unlike the joyful look she used to have whenever she saw him.
He scowled.
Then he heard Hailey's trembling voice. "Miss Serena, I know… I know you came for Adrian. Since you're here, you… you should come in and sit down."
She put on a pitiful act, looking as though she was terrified of Serena but enduring it for Adrian's sake.
That reminded Adrian.
Serena had come to Obsidian Palace because of his call.
She had come for him.
The irritation that had been rising in Adrian subsided slightly at that thought.
His mood even improved considerably.
He smirked, leaning back lazily against the sofa. He tilted his head up and said in a condescending tone, "Since you're here, what are you doing standing in the doorway? Get in here and apologize to Hailey."
His overt protectiveness of Hailey made everyone in the room look at Serena, eager to watch the drama unfold.
Brian was standing just outside the door, in a blind spot for those inside the room.
"Ha, don't flatter yourself!" a skinny guy sneered. "Adrian only worked with the Wynns out of respect for their family. You're an impostor who stole Miss Wynn's identity for twenty years, and now you have the gall to keep pestering Adrian? Have some shame!"
A blond guy chimed in, "You're just a country bumpkin. If it weren't for Adrian and Miss Wynn, you wouldn't even be qualified to set foot in a high-class place like Obsidian Palace!"
"Pestering?" Serena laughed coldly, her gaze sweeping over Adrian's face. "A piece of trash I threw away is worth my time to pester?"
She paused, her clear, bright eyes looking at Logan and Hailey, her expression filled with undisguised scorn. "As for whether I'm qualified to be in Obsidian Palace… are you sure about that?"
Logan and Hailey immediately remembered the card Serena had… the access card to the Elysium Lounge!
It was as if something was caught in their throats, and they couldn't utter a single word, their eyes filled with frustration.
"Well said!" Brian couldn't help but applaud. "You rock, Serena! A bunch of damn snobs. Say one more word, I dare you!"
