"Where's security? What are they doing? How could they let just anyone in?"
Several designers began to shout angrily.
Black Jack slowly finished her Coke, then noticed the cup was still full of ice. She went to get a refill and then glanced up at them, the corners of her eyes lifting.
She curled her lips into an even more glamorous, wildly alluring smile.
"Miss Wynn…" she said, a smile playing on her lips as her gaze fell on Hailey.
That smile, and that look, made Hailey's heart skip a beat. She had a bad feeling about this.
And Black Jack, seeming to notice the subtle change in Hailey's expression, smiled even more brilliantly. "I remember, back in school, all you cared about was investigating which male students and which teachers came from good families. You hated drawing and design the most. You used to say that the hardworking students were wasting their time on useless drawings, and that it was better to just find a rich man to marry."
"So what happened? It hasn't even been that long, and suddenly you have 'talent' and 'experience'? Where did this talent come from? And this experience?"
The entire lounge fell silent. The looks many people gave Hailey turned strange.
Even the designers who had been defending Hailey fell silent, their expressions a mixture of surprise and suspicion as they looked at her.
Hailey's smile froze, and her face instantly turned pale.
This person… could she be a former classmate?
"I don't get all your complicated stuff," Black Jack said, tilting her head and fixing her gaze on the jewelry Hailey was wearing. "But this thing you're wearing, it's hardly a masterpiece. It copies Queen's style but can't hold a candle to the real thing, especially the details... Even an amateur like me finds it hard to look at."
She smacked her lips. "And you... from top to bottom, inside and out... you just don't seem like the kind of person who could design this jewelry set."
Hailey dug her nails into her palm, her heart pounding violently. "What… what do you mean?"
"I mean…" Black Jack tilted her head back, downed the rest of her Coke in one go, then straightened her lithe body and walked toward Hailey.
She stopped in front of Hailey, a wild, glamorous smile on her red lips. "This design, which rips off Queen's style… isn't a level that someone like you could ever reach."
