Messing With Her? Are You Crazy! novel Chapter 650

"A faction capable of pulling this off..."

He let out a low, breathless chuckle, the sound laced with a predatory thrill and a chilling edge. "I'm afraid it's someone from the Gray Zone."

His tapping fingers came to an abrupt halt, and he lifted his dark, intense gaze. "Look into it. Find out what Gray Zone factions have recently entered the United Realmon States."

The trembling subordinate immediately agreed.

Just then.

His phone rang.

Rex glanced down at the caller ID flashing on the screen. In an instant, the suffocating, violent aura surrounding him vanished.

His dark eyes swept over everyone in the room with a warning glare, signaling them to keep their mouths shut.

They all immediately lowered their heads in silence.

Only then did he answer the call. "Mom, what's wrong?"

An older woman's voice came through the receiver, sounding displeased but undeniably gentle. "Douglas, Isabella is already here. You're her uncle, so why aren't you here yet? Didn't you say you'd be done by noon? Are you still working?"

Rex's voice was deep and smooth. "Yeah, something came up at the last minute."

"Ugh, if only you had come earlier to walk around town with me!" The old woman's tone was full of regret. "You have no idea. I ran into the most wonderful girl from Elyndor near the commercial street by the nursing home today. She's an incredible doctor and absolutely stunning. If you met her, you'd definitely fall for her."

Rex felt a headache coming on.

He was only twenty-six, in the prime of his career.

Yet, his mother was constantly obsessing over his love life.

He sighed helplessly. "Mom, I have no plans to settle down right now. Stop trying to set me up with every Elyndorian girl you see."

But even as he said the words.

Rex pinched the bridge of his nose, stood up in resignation, and shoved his phone into his pocket. "Keep looking into it. Let me know the second you find anything."

Isabella saw that her grandmother had finished the call.

She timed it perfectly, waiting by the elevators to conveniently bump into her uncle—Douglas Vinton—the man the world knew only as Rex.

The man wore a bespoke ruby-red suit that highlighted his tall, broad-shouldered frame. His strikingly handsome face carried a dangerous, aggressive edge.

His dark eyes were piercing and predatory, and he exuded the overwhelming, commanding presence of someone used to absolute power.

"Uncle Douglas!"

Isabella instantly put on an expression of pleasant surprise. Her features softened into a sweet, innocent look as she greeted him warmly.

She had waited here specifically to poison his opinion of Serena, hoping her uncle would harbor a preconceived disgust for that country bumpkin.
