Went a little wild?
He could tell.
When Serena stepped out of the car, her hair was noticeably tousled.
She definitely went wild.
And...
Meet the family?
Those words made Nicholas's expression turn positively lethal.
Without saying a word, he swept Serena off her feet and strode directly into the hotel.
"Nicholas!" Serena lost her balance and instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. "Put me down."
"No!"
Nicholas spat the word out harshly, tightening his grip on her.
His lips were pressed into a thin line as he looked down at her, his heart caught in a war between crippling jealousy and overwhelming affection.
Serena stared at his tense jaw and the reddish tint at the corners of his eyes, fueled by pure jealousy.
He looked like a massive guard dog whose favorite toy had just been stolen—aggrieved and furiously territorial.
Seeing him like this, the residual adrenaline from the race faded away. She actually found it quite amusing.
She had just endured a high-stakes race and was genuinely tired.
Since he was willing to carry her, she couldn't be bothered to struggle.
She simply let Nicholas carry her into the elevator, lazily giving him the floor and room number.
They reached the room.
