The video skipped forward. It showed the heart-stopping moments of Serena outmaneuvering the deadly crashes on the track. Then, it showed Serena arrogantly reversing her car across the finish line for an absolutely crushing victory.
It captured Anna and Isabella attempting to back out of their bet. Finally, it showed Douglas stepping in and forcing them to honor their own terms.
Watching the footage, the color drained entirely from Anna and Isabella's faces.
Anna practically lunged forward with a piercing scream, trying to slap the phone out of Douglas's hand. "No... that's a lie! It's fake! Turn it off! Turn it off now!"
Douglas easily sidestepped her, a mocking sneer on his lips. "Such a dramatic reaction. Feeling a little guilty?"
He chuckled darkly. "I have the complete, unedited footage of the entire racetrack from last night. Do you want me to play it frame by frame so your grandparents can truly appreciate the show? While I'm at it, I can email a copy to your father."
"Th-this is doctored! Douglas, to protect that bitch, you actually forged fake footage to frame me!"
Anna's eyes were bloodshot and manic. She frantically swiped at his phone again, completely hysterical. "Why are you so biased? I'm your actual niece! You watched me grow up! And her... she's just some trash from the countryside! You're destroying my life for her? A-are you sleeping with her too?!"
The moment the words left her mouth, a twisted realization seemed to click in her deranged mind. She pointed an accusing finger at him. "Yes! You two are definitely sleeping together! That slut loves throwing herself at men! She seduced you too... Ah!"
She didn't get to finish her sentence.
*Smack!*
Holden swung his heavy cane, striking Anna brutally across the back.
Isabella shrank into the corner, too terrified to even breathe.
Anna thrashed on the floor until her voice was completely hoarse from screaming, but not a single person stepped forward to stop the beating.
"Holden..." Kiera was just as livid. Her gaze held zero sympathy for Anna. Her only concern was her husband's health.
"Grandpa." Seeing Holden gasping for breath, Serena finally stepped up and supported his arm. "Your health isn't great. You can't let your anger control you. It's not worth ruining your body over someone like her."
She guided him back to the hospital bed and handed him the medicinal soup she had prepared. "Catch your breath. After you finish this soup, I'll do a quick acupuncture session to stabilize you."
Holden looked at his granddaughter. Despite her cool demeanor, genuine concern flickered in her eyes. His heart ached with an overwhelming mix of guilt and sorrow.
