His eyes immediately reddened, and his trembling fingers weakly tried to squeeze her hand. "My sweet girl... you saved Kiera, and now you've saved me... you must be so tired."
His first thought upon waking wasn't about the Vinton Group, nor was it about his medical condition.
His entire world was solely focused on Serena, his precious granddaughter.
"You stubborn old fool..." Kiera wiped her tears, overwhelmed with emotion. "You're finally awake. Serena stayed by your side all night. She didn't close her eyes for a second. She only sat down to rest when your vitals completely stabilized."
Holden's eyes grew even redder. He weakly patted Serena's hand. "I know. My Serena snatched me straight out of the Demon's grasp. You've worked so hard for me..."
"It wasn't hard." Serena offered him a gentle smile. "As long as you're okay, nothing else matters."
"Dad, you're awake. Have some water." Seeing him regain consciousness, Silas quickly brought over a glass of warm water.
Holden merely glanced at him before turning all of his attention back to Serena, smiling until his wrinkles crinkled. "Serena, you've been working so hard, you must be thirsty. You have some water first."
He then shot a glare at Silas. "Are you blind? Hurry up and give the water to your niece! With zero situational awareness like that, how are you even the CEO of the Vinton Group?"
Silas stood in stunned silence.
Defeated, he offered the glass to Serena.
Serena smiled and took the glass, but she brought it directly to Holden's lips. "I'm not thirsty. Wet your throat first."
Holden obediently opened his mouth.
After taking a few sips, he tried to prop himself up. Serena quickly helped support him against the pillows.
Once he was settled, Holden looked at Silas. "Silas, call my lawyers."
"No, you have to take them!" Holden grew anxious. "Serena, this is my gift to you, you must accept it! Just take the dividends and let Silas handle all the boring corporate garbage. It won't be any trouble for you!"
Serena opened her mouth to refuse again, but Holden immediately put on a stern face. "Serena, if you don't take them, it means you're sick of me! If you're sick of me, what's the point of me even being alive? If you reject them, I'm going to refuse my treatments! No pills, no IVs!"
Serena stared at him, feeling a deep sense of helplessness.
Kiera chimed in to help. "Serena, just take them. You know how stubborn your grandfather gets. He'll actually torture himself just to make a point."
Looking at the pouting old man throwing a dramatic tantrum, Serena finally sighed. "Fine. We'll do it your way."
Holden's gloomy facade vanished instantly, replaced by a radiant, blooming smile. "From now on, you're the ultimate boss of the Vinton Group! If anyone dares try to bully you, you just crush them with your billions!"
Serena nodded, playing along perfectly. "Thank you."
