"Silas..." Isabella couldn't give up. She couldn't stand seeing him treat Serena like a savior. "Don't pressure her. She grew up in the country and didn't even finish high school, how could she..."
She never finished her sentence. The look Silas gave her made her blood run cold. It was full of warning and disgust. She knew instantly that one more word, and he would ship her right back to Elyndor. And if the Lancaster family saw those security tapes... they would disown her too.
Isabella clamped a hand over her mouth, shrinking into the corner, too terrified to breathe.
Silas turned back to Serena, his tone pleading. "Serena, someone is launching a short attack against the Vinton family. The tech department can't hold them off. If... if you have a way..."
He didn't know why, but the moment he saw her, his only thought was to ask for her help. She handled that impossible surgery with ease. What if she really could fix this? He remembered how easily she restored the deleted security footage on her phone and exposed Anna's crimes.
Maybe she really could do it!
Silas suppressed his excitement, trying not to pressure her. "Just give it a try. If it doesn't work, that's fine. I'll figure something out..."
"Boss!" A shareholder on the screen couldn't take it anymore. "What are you doing? We're losing millions of dollars every second! Why are you wasting time with a kid? What does she know about finance?"
"Exactly! This is no time for kids to play around!"
"We need to stop this short attack immediately, or we're all ruined!"
Everyone was panicking, while their leader was begging a teenager for help. It was maddening.
Largest shareholder? Absolute control?
That meant this young girl held ultimate power in the company, ranking above all of them!
She definitely had the right to be there.
"But... what can a young girl do?" a shareholder finally managed to croak. Their only concern was whether they were going to lose all their money.
"Whether she can help or not, we have to try. It's better than you useless idiots sitting there doing nothing!" It was the first time Silas had ever sworn at his board.
