My Deceased Wife Wants a Divorce (Hannah) novel Chapter 804

And yet, Marcus Hale kept insisting he had succeeded, that there were no problems, and that he had never failed before. But when Lionel considered what Hannah had said to him, he could sense that something was off. It was possible that Marcus had indeed failed this one time, but Hannah had put on such a convincing act that he had been completely fooled. “Mr. Rosenberg, he’s been taken care of. What are your orders? If we hold him for too long, Quennel’s side will notice something is wrong.” After handling the matter, the assistant returned to Lionel’s side to report. Just as Marcus Hale had said, Quennel would definitely find out about the car accident. It was only a matter of time. He would trace it back to Lionel and come demanding the man be handed over. The best course of action would be to get Marcus out of the country immediately. Once he was abroad, it wouldn't be easy for Quennel to find him. But there was a risk. What if Marcus was already completely loyal to Quennel? Even if they sent him abroad, what was to stop him from just getting on a plane and coming back? He could go to Quennel and tell him everything, or worse, go to the police and report Lionel for attempted murder and kidnapping. The fallout would be enormous, especially with the divorce hearing just around the corner. He really didn't want any more trouble right now. The thought of all the recent chaos gave Lionel a throbbing headache. “Go and negotiate with him. If he’s willing to leave the country and guarantees he won’t go to Quennel, we can arrange a flight for him tonight. Once he’s abroad, have someone keep an eye on him. We have to be sure he doesn’t suddenly return to find Quennel.” “Yes, sir.” After receiving his orders, the assistant went upstairs to negotiate with Marcus. Lionel’s long, elegant fingers intertwined tightly as he stared grimly at the phone on the coffee table. The simplest solution, of course, was to call Hannah right now and ask her if her memory had been altered. But if he called her now, she definitely wouldn't give him a straight answer. If she had been willing to be honest with him, she would have told him everything when she first called, instead of asking him to investigate. - Hannah stood on her bedroom balcony, holding her phone as she listened to her subordinate’s report on how Lionel had ordered the car crash to abduct Marcus Hale and was now holding him at his home. “Does Quennel know yet?” she asked. “He should find out soon. The crash made quite a scene.” “Keep a close watch on Lionel’s movements. If he tries to take Marcus out of the country, I want you to intercept them, take Marcus, and deliver him directly to the police. Have him report Lionel for attempted murder.” After the person on the other end acknowledged the order, Hannah hung up. If she hadn't found out a day earlier that Marcus Hale had arrived in the city and had her people investigate his purpose, she would never have known that Quennel was planning to have her memory altered. Thank God she had found out in advance. The consequences would have been terrifying. She had found someone to perform counter-hypnosis; otherwise, she would now be a love-struck fool, completely infatuated with Quennel. After the divorce papers were signed, Quennel would have probably tricked her into signing a marriage license right away.
