"Auntie, Justin is your grand-nephew too! Since he likes Claire, we as parents should respect his wishes."
"Save it. Don't think I don't know what you're scheming!"
The old woman glared at him, then turned her attention to Daniel and Amanda.
"Daniel, come here. I need to speak with you."
"Mom, didn't you say earlier that if I didn't discipline Elena properly, we should get out of the Whelan family? We were just planning to leave," Daniel said.
The old woman's expression turned ugly.
She was trying to be pleasant, yet her son was still holding a grudge.
Thinking of what Dylan had said, she knew she couldn't offend Daniel's family right now.
Otherwise, who knew when Dylan might turn against the Whelans?
"Fine, I was impulsive earlier. I'm apologizing to you, aren't I? We are a family; blood is thicker than water. I am your mother! I gave birth to you and raised you. Can't you be a little more forgiving?"
"I should be forgiving, but you can't be so biased!" Amanda couldn't help but interject.
"How dare you! Who gave you the right to speak?" The old woman slammed her cane against the floor.
What she hated most was being contradicted.
Especially by Amanda, whom she had always looked down upon.
"Mom, Amanda is my wife. She is a member of the Whelan family. My brothers' wives can speak, but my wife can't say a word? Since this house can't tolerate us, we're leaving!"
