“Hmph! You wouldn't answer my calls, would you? I had to come in person to see you, you ungrateful son!” The old woman was furious.
He had moved into a new home without saying a word. If she hadn't come personally today, she wouldn't have known her own son was living in such a magnificent house.
To think she had defended them before, saying they were having a hard time living in the northern suburbs.
As it turned out, they were living the high life.
“Mom, please sit down. I didn't mean it like that.” Daniel quickly helped her to a seat.
“Mom, please have some tea.” Amanda politely brought over a cup of tea.
Proper etiquette had to be maintained.
After all, this was their first time visiting the house. Courtesy first, confrontation later.
The old woman glared at her, clearly dissatisfied, and didn't touch the tea.
“Wow, Amanda, you really play your cards close to your chest, don’t you? We thought you were broke! Turns out you were making a fortune in silence. Living in such a nice house and not telling us—were you afraid we’d come and steal it?” Maggie asked sarcastically.
Amanda knew Maggie’s personality well, so she didn't feel the need to be polite.
The old woman was an elder, so she showed respect. But as for this sister-in-law, they had never gotten along, so there was no need for pleasantries.
So, she responded coldly, “You never asked. Why would I bring it up for no reason?”
This comeback choked Maggie up.
The old woman looked at Daniel. “Daniel, I came here because of the company. Your brother has been arrested. You have to find a way to save him. As long as you go back and resolve the issue, the factory will be yours to manage again. Your brother's family will never interfere again, I promise you!”
