"Let's test that theory!" Elena clenched her fists, dropping into a fighting stance.
"Hahaha! Do you really think you're walking out of here? It doesn't matter how good you are. That drink you just had was spiked. Elena, you're a dead woman!"
Elena raised an eyebrow. "The drink?"
With that, she spat the liquid directly onto the floor.
Lucas Maddox looked absolutely stunned. "How... how did you..."
"Lucas Maddox, I never swallowed it. Did you really think I'd be that careless around you?"
It was a survival tactic her mentor had drilled into her.
Situations like this were common. Drinking could mean ingesting poison, but refusing could provoke a confrontation and give the enemy an excuse to attack.
She had mastered the art of faking a swallow, keeping the liquid trapped at the back of her throat—a skill that had saved her from more than one assassination attempt.
"Hahaha! Elena, even so, you're not getting away. These fifteen men are all elite fighters," Viper mocked.
"Let's see about that!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Elena launched her attack. It was going to be a brutal fight.
She hadn't been afraid of Sirius, so why would she be scared of these guys?
However, they weren't lying. These men were indeed elites, highly trained and dangerous.
If they had been the usual street thugs Lucas employed, she would have wiped the floor with them in seconds.
But that wasn't the case today.
After a grueling exchange of blows, she suddenly felt her muscles growing heavy, her strength slowly fading!
Crap!
Even though she hadn't swallowed the spiked drink, having it in her mouth for that long meant trace amounts had still seeped into her system.
The drug had been completely odorless and tasteless, and it was taking effect.
Her combat effectiveness took a massive hit.
She needed to finish this quickly and get out. The longer she dragged this out, the worse it would be for her.
Smack!
Elena finally couldn't hold on any longer. Viper delivered a crushing blow that sent her crashing to the floor.
Before she could even attempt to get back up, several men rushed in and pinned her down.
Viper licked his lips and sneered dismissively. "Rumor had it you were tough. Turns out you're nothing special. Look at you, beaten so easily."
Elena glared at him with icy hatred. She was only losing because of the drug.
Otherwise, this guy wouldn't have stood a chance against her.
She was Moon, the undisputed champion of the Falveria mercenary group.
But a loss was a loss. She wasn't about to make excuses.
Viper walked up to Elena and reached down, ripping the silicone disguise right off her face.
Her true features were finally exposed.
"It really is you! I almost didn't believe it earlier!" Lucas Maddox yelled, visibly excited by the sight of her.
