Lane nodded.
She trusted Elena because Sean trusted her.
Therefore, her trust was unconditional.
A moment later, Elena went to the ward to check on Sean.
Sean was wearing an oxygen mask, still deeply asleep.
Elena walked over and gently placed her fingers on his wrist to check his pulse.
She wanted to see how his body was doing.
"Logically, he should be waking up by now," Elena murmured to herself.
Just as she spoke, Sean's eyelashes fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.
Seeing Elena's face come into view, he couldn't quite believe it, feeling like he was still dreaming.
How could he wake up and immediately see the person he longed for right in front of him? He had to be dreaming.
Thinking this, he decided he would rather not wake up from this dream, wanting it to continue forever.
With that thought, he closed his eyes again.
"Sean, wake up," Elena called out.
This wasn't a dream?
Sean opened his eyes again and saw Elena looking at him.
He murmured, "B—Boss..."
"Sean, you're finally awake. Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
"It hurts. My whole body hurts, but seeing you suddenly makes it hurt a little less!"
The anesthesia had likely worn off, so he was regaining sensation.
"It's normal to feel pain. I'll inject some painkillers into your IV in a moment; that will make you feel better."
"Thank you, Boss."
Sean tried to sit up but found that his entire body, aside from his head and hands, was strapped down and immobilized.
"Don't move. You have too many injuries, and I just performed surgery on you. You need to recover slowly in the hospital right now. You absolutely must not move."
