After hanging up, Theresa headed to the restroom.
As she walked in, she caught Lorna huddled by the sinks, secretly inspecting the tear in the dress.
It was obvious she was still devastated over the damage.
After all, she had never worn anything remotely that expensive in her entire life.
"Stop staring at it. It's just a dress," Theresa said smoothly.
Lorna, already heartbroken over the ruined garment, felt a surge of pure rage at the sight of the culprit.
"Theresa, don't push your luck. I let you off the hook. You should be keeping your head down and staying out of my way."
Theresa let out a dismissive scoff. "I think the one who needs to keep her head down is you. You know exactly where that dress came from. The only reason I haven't exposed you is because I don't feel like wasting my energy on you right now. But let me make this very clear—if you ever try to show off or cause trouble for me again, I guarantee you will lose absolutely everything you have."
Having delivered her warning, Theresa casually rinsed her hands and walked out.
Lorna stood rooted to the spot, grinding her teeth in fury.
How dare Theresa speak to her like that.
Did she know something?
*No,* Lorna reassured herself. *She's a pathetic girl wearing cheap street clothes. How could she possibly know where the dress came from?*
It was absolutely impossible!
Besides, it wasn't like she stole the dress or bought a knockoff.
She had every right to wear it proudly. There was nothing to be afraid of.
After work.
Lorna headed home. The ruined dress had kept her in a foul mood all day.
"Lorna, what's wrong?" Butler Avery asked as she walked in.
"It's nothing, Dad."
Lorna looked glum. She gazed up at the sprawling, magnificent architecture of the Ellington estate, a heavy sigh escaping her lips.
"If something's bothering you, just tell me," Butler Avery prodded gently.
