Hearing this, Daniel actually felt a surge of secret pride. "Really? My Elena is that strong?"
Edward was speechless.
"What the hell is that supposed to mean, Daniel? Your daughter is acting like a lunatic and you're not going to step in? Get over to the estate right now. Mom is the one who ordered me to call you."
"Never mind all that. Your sister-in-law and I are out taking a walk. I'm not getting dragged into this mess. Whatever the issue is, you can sort it out directly with Elena. I trust my daughter."
"You... what are you saying? You're just washing your hands of this?"
"What do you want me to do? You just said Elena went crazy, which means you people probably drove her to it. Why do you want me there? So I can help her beat you up?"
"You... you..." Edward was choking on his own rage.
He angrily shoved the phone at Old Mrs. Whelan.
"Mom, take it. You talk to him."
The old matriarch snatched the phone. "Daniel, you get over here and deal with your daughter immediately. Otherwise, I will show her no mercy."
Daniel chuckled dryly on the other end. Edward had just complained that Elena had single-handedly destroyed over twenty security guards.
It was painfully obvious that the people at the estate had completely lost control of the situation and were only calling him out of sheer desperation.
What was the point of threatening him now?
He saw right through them. Whatever residual familial ties he had with the main house paled in comparison to the love and loyalty he had for his own immediate family.
Forced to choose between the extended family and his own wife and daughter, it wasn't even a contest.
"Mom, there is absolutely nothing I can do. Besides, didn't you already kick my family out? I don't run the company anymore, and I certainly don't involve myself in the estate's drama. Anyway, I have to go. Amanda and I are enjoying our walk."
With that, Daniel hung up the phone.
"Ungrateful bastard. Ungrateful wretch." Old Mrs. Whelan shrieked, violently slamming the phone to the ground.
She couldn't believe a father would so blatantly ignore his daughter's rampaging violence.
