Reborn Fake Heiress Watch the Whole Family Burn novel Chapter 815

“We didn’t actually borrow any money from her at all. Five years ago, Beatrice came to our house looking for a fight. It was raining, the ground was slippery, and she slipped in our yard. She demanded compensation, and the town stepped in to mediate. They said since the accident happened on our property, we were liable. We had to pay her a thousand dollars in medical bills for her broken leg.”

“We didn’t have the money back then, so we signed an IOU. Our financial situation has been terrible for years. Every dime my mom made went toward my tuition. Who would have guessed that after five years, with her absurd compound interest, that thousand dollars would turn into two thousand.”

A few days prior, Michelle had learned her mother was gravely ill and rushed back home.

She found Evelyn bedridden and insisted on taking her to the hospital. But the moment she showed slight improvement, Evelyn demanded to go home.

She insisted the hospital fees were just too expensive.

And today, Beatrice had shown up demanding marriage, and Evelyn, already critically ill, had simply succumbed to the extreme stress.

Over the next two days, Elena remained in Valemere Isles to help Michelle arrange the floral tributes and handle the funeral.

“Michelle, please don't be too sad,” Elena comforted her.

She blamed herself for arriving too late. If she had known about Michelle’s family struggles earlier, none of this would have happened.

“I’m the only one left in the world now,” Michelle sobbed silently, a lump in her throat.

Her only family, her mother, was gone.

“You still have me, don't you? From now on, I am your family. You have to keep moving forward. If your mother were here, she would want you to live a happy life.”

Michelle nodded slowly, wiping her eyes before she began sorting through her mother’s belongings.

Elena stayed in the room, helping her pack everything away.

From the closet, Elena pulled out a stack of clothes. These were Evelyn's old garments that needed to be neatly folded.

Suddenly, a photograph slipped from between the fabric and fell to the floor.

Elena picked it up. Her pupils dilated, and a fierce tremor ran all the way to her fingertips.

This was... this was a picture of Zachary!

It was an exact likeness of Zachary!
