Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 898

The arrival of Sebastian caused a massive stir in the ballroom.

A constant stream of guests attempted to approach him, eager for a chance to speak with the head of Austine Financial Group in such a rare setting.

The man’s peerless features drew the lingering gazes of many beauties in the room. Their eyes were filled with bashful hope, each wishing to capture the attention of Murica's most legendary high-society figure for even a fleeting moment.

Some elegantly dressed women intended to step forward and introduce themselves, but they faltered, intimidated by the man's icy gaze.

Cary walked up to him with a smile. "Mr. Whitmore certainly knows how to make an entrance. The banquet has long since begun, yet the host arrives late and keeps us old-timers waiting. It seems you don't hold much regard for us."

Sebastian’s eyes flickered with sarcasm. "How could I not hold you in high regard, Cary? You’ve been so incredibly 'thorough' in your care for me lately that I have no choice but to keep you in mind, wouldn't you say?"

"You joke, Mr. Whitmore," Cary replied with a thin smile. "That little bit of care hardly counts as thorough. In the future, the Cary estate will be the one relying on your care—especially Everly. I imagine she will require quite a lot of your attention."

Cary’s words sparked a flurry of whispers among the onlookers. They had been speculating that the alliance was merely a groundless rumor, yet Cary’s statement seemed to confirm the impending union between the two families.

Sebastian’s dark eyes turned piercingly cold, and a mocking sneer touched his lips. "Is that so? In that case, rest assured, Cary. I will certainly take 'excellent' care of the Chris family and Miss Everly. I promise it will be to your satisfaction and that I won't disappoint your expectations."

She then turned to Cary. "Do not worry. The Austin family will most definitely look after Miss Everly. Otherwise, the advice she gave me earlier would have gone to waste."

Derrick looked confused. "What advice?"

Uriel laughed. "She advised me to be someone who understands the times and adapts. I actually think Miss Everly is quite right; one truly must be aware of the situation. Otherwise, it would be tragic to not even know how one met their end. Wouldn't you agree, Cary?"

Cary’s smile was predatory. "Precisely. Those who fail to adapt usually meet a very grim end. I’ve always cautioned Everly about that. I’m sure she understands the gravity of it. Since she shared that with you, she clearly hopes you’ll make the right choice and avoid future regrets."
