Standing in front of the mirror, she stared at her flushed cheeks and slightly swollen lips. Remembering the way Lucian had looked just moments ago—so completely unraveled and wildly different from his usual stoic self—made her heart skip a beat all over again.
By the time she calmed down and walked out drying her hands on a towel, Lucian had put his pants back on. His chest was still bare, and he was sitting lazily in her desk chair.
A few crumpled tissues in the trash bin indicated he had taken care of himself as well. At the sight of her, his gaze tracked her every move, his bronzed chest gleaming under the bedroom lights.
Before she could even get a word out, he caught her hand and pulled her effortlessly onto his muscular thighs.
"Still jealous?" she teased, raising an eyebrow.
Lucian went silent for a few seconds. Despite being slightly embarrassed by his massive misunderstanding, he was too stubborn to back down. "If it means I get the same treatment I got tonight... then yes."
Loyce couldn't help but laugh.
He turned his head, his eyes darkening as they landed on her smiling lips.
Reaching up, he gently brushed his thumb across her lower lip, his voice dropping an octave. "What you said earlier. Say it again."
"What?" Loyce didn't immediately follow.
"Tell me you only want me."
The bedroom fell quiet for a heartbeat.
"I only want you."
...
Buck finally answered the video call. His background showed a wood-paneled cabin with a porthole looking out at the ocean.
