The crowd continued to whisper. Those who believed Loyce and Mr. Windsor had already backed away several yards, but they didn't leave completely. They lingered on the edges, treating it like a spectacle. However, the top shareholders defending Macrostar Production, along with businessmen hoping to score a piece of the Olympic stadium contract, stood firmly by Edgar's side.
The room was split into two factions. After another moment of waiting, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
"I told you nothing would happen!" Edgar announced loudly. "If everyone listened to their fearmongering, do you have any idea how much damage and financial loss it would inflict on Macrostar?"
Alicia pointed a trembling finger at Loyce. "You really do hold a grudge against us, don't you? You won't be happy until our entire family is dead! How can anyone be as vicious as you?"
Horace quickly chimed in. "We don't welcome anyone here who doesn't support Macrostar. If you know what's good for you, get out!"
Mr. Windsor frowned deeply, his arms already being held by security guards. He opened his mouth to argue.
BOOM!
A muffled, thunderous roar erupted from deep beneath the center of the venue!
Everyone instantly felt the earth violently heave under their feet. It was like a massive earthquake.
In the next second, under countless terrified gazes, the section of the floor covered in plush red carpet—the main stage area meant for the groundbreaking ceremony—tore open as if ripped by an invisible giant hand. The ground spanning dozens of square feet caved in with a deafening crash!
This was a banquet hall packed to the brim with guests. The collapsing area was filled with elegantly dressed elites, most of whom were Macrostar executives or Edgar's loyal supporters. Out of blind trust, they had stood in the dead center. Now, they were the first to suffer.
Screams were abruptly cut off as people vanished into the sinkhole.
"Ahhh!"
"It's collapsing! It's really collapsing!"
"Help me!"
Dust, mixed with a grayish-black toxic cloud that reeked of sulfur and mercury vapor, erupted from the crater like a volcanic geyser, rapidly engulfing the room.
