Chapter 185 I Was Wrong

Aurora had dropped a name that unsettled Damian–Collin.

Damian knew Isabelle and Collin were close, but not to that extent.

Had they been together before us?

Isabelle watched Damian. His eyes held anger–disappointment in Aurora, and a trace of doubt about her.

Aurora was furious.

Damian’s still defending her. Even now, he is still so devoted to her.

“Alright, that’s enough. Let’s go,” Regina said, taking Isabelle’s hand to leave.

Damian didn’t even glance back. He grabbed his jacket and followed.

He immediately pulled away, his face a mask of disgust. “This ends here, Aurora.”

“Dami, you can’t just abandon me. I’m sorry. But my brother wouldn’t want us fighting like this,” she pleaded desperately.

Damian stopped and turned to face her. Some things needed to be made clear.

Regina and Isabelle didn’t pause, stepping directly into the elevator.

In the end, this was for Damian to resolve.

Damian stated, “Aurora, I’ll be blunt. Your brother didn’t die saving us. We only helped you because you were alone and vulnerable. Do you understand? You’re an adult now. It’s time to stand on your own.”

His words were deliberate, each one carving into Aurora’s mind.

She shook her head, tears falling as she sobbed helplessly.

“We tolerated your behavior out of respect for your brother. But you’ve repeatedly used our kindness to hurt us. Have you ever considered that your current situation is a result of your own actions?” Damian Jsked.

The group stepped out of the elevator, trading places with Damian.

He stepped inside. “I made things clear. I have another engagement. Keep an eye on her,” he said flatly.

The group was stunned.

The whole point of tonight’s gathering was to have that very conversation with Aurora. But Damian ended it before it even began. Alaric and Lucas exchanged a look, unsure what had just happened.

Damian had another business dinner. He’d only planned to make an appearance here, but running into this mess left him feeling deeply guilty.

He had assumed Isabelle would use his card to help Aurora. He never thought she’d spend her own money and not touch his.

And now Aurora used that as ammunition against her.
