Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try smoothing out some of those eriges.
Lucas frowned and turned onto his site. The image of Lynn ingered in his mind the memory of her lounging on her sofa in that thin camisole, snacking without a care.
That day, he’d barely kept himself in check.
It was as if every shred of his rationality had been swept away by her presence, leaving him utterly defenseless.
Warm sunlight streamed through the tall windows and fell across the woman curled on the sofa. Her long hair, spilled like dark ink across the cushions, seemed edged in gold. Her fair skin, exposed by her restless shifting during the night, gleamed softly in the light.
She was wearing sleep shorts and a loose tee. Now, with one arm raised above her head, the fabric had ridder, up, revealing a slender stretch of her waist.
The blanket had slipped to the floor. One foot was tucked under her, the other dangled off the edge of the sofa, toes just brushing the rug. Her sleeping posture was anything but graceful.
Lucas, busy preparing breakfast in the open kitchen, caught sight of the scene. He swallowed hard and decided against going over to adjust her clothes.
If he approached now and Lynn happened to wake, she would undoubtedly call him a shameless creep.
He could already picture it-Lynn pointing a finger at him, her eyes flashing with accusation.
He frowned and dismissed the thought. Better to just focus on breakfast and save himself the trouble.
The sounds Lucas made in the kitchen didn’t disturb Lynn’s sleep. She was finally roused by the growing warmth of the sun.
She sat up quickly, straightened her clothes, and anxiously ran both hands through her tousled hair.
However she felt about Lucas, she still wanted to maintain some dignity, especially in front of him.
A man like him, so blunt and teasing, would probably make some remark over breakfast.
He’d likely say something like, “There’s a perfectly good bed upstairs, and you choose the couch. Not too bright, are you?”
Just thinking about it made Lynn feel flustered.
She didn’t want a partner like him, yet backing out now seemed impossible.
