Chapter 228
3rd Person’s POV
Finished
Lylah didn’t step out of the bathroom until the room had quieted. Until Zyrelle was gone and the lingering heat of embarrassment had finally faded from her face.
Even then, a faint flush remained.
She felt guilty for Damon.
Though, in truth-she knew he understood. As Ezra’s Beta, Damon knew better than most what it meant when a mated Alpha was finally alone with his Luna together.
Still…
Lylah kept her gaze fixed firmly out the window as they left the treatment center, avoiding the Beta’s eyes entirely.
Outside, Lunaris unfurled beneath a pale, silver-washed sky, its vast expanse breathing with quiet life. The air carried the crisp scent of pine and distant frost, brushing against the senses like a whispered promise of winter.
*Zyrelle told me about you and Mina,” Ezra said, breaking the quiet.
Lylah turned to him slightly. “She helped me free her from Cora. I haven’t thanked her properly for that.”
I already did,” Ezra replied. “On your behalf as well.” There was a pause before he continued, his voice lower. “She understands what Mina means to you. She was relieved she was able to take her out of Cora’s hands.”
Lylah’s expression softened-but only for a moment.
“I wouldn’t have minded if Cora truly cared for her,” she said quietly. “If she had loved Mina the way a creature like that deserves. But she didn’t.”
Her fingers curled slightly in her lap.
“I think Alpha Eldric and Luna Daia must have told her about Nyx. About the horse I used to have.” Her voice dipped, edged with something old and bitter. “So she wanted to show me. That she owns Nyx’s blood now. That she could do whatever she pleased and make me watch.”
Ezra didn’t look surprised.
Deep down, he had never believed Cora capable of loving anything beyond herself.
“You never told me you could ride like that,” he said instead, his gaze settling on her. “I feel like there’s still so much about you I don’t know.”
Lylah let out a soft breath.
“And the same goes for you,” she replied gently. “We never really had the chance to spend time together

since we mated.”
Silence settled between them.
Because she was right.
Duty had always come first. Her studies. His responsibilities.
They had been bound together.
But not yet truly known each other.
“…Then let’s change that,” Ezra said at last. “Will you go out with me?”
“Yes. Somewhere a little more special than the usual.” Lylah smiled, soft and bright.
A quiet warmth settled in his chest at the sight of it.
“Damon,” Ezra said, glancing forward, “turn around.”
The car shifted direction at once.

Soon, they arrived at the southern edge of Lunaris, where the city softened-where grandeur gave way to something simpler, more alive. A small bazaar stretched along the roadside, vibrant and unpolished, filled with voices, laughter, and the mingling scents of tangerine, paint, and earth.
They walked side by side through the narrow paths between stalls, passing artisans and traders, their wares laid out in colorful displays. Lylah’s eyes sparkled as she looked around, curiosity lighting her features.
Ezra noticed every detail.
Every shift in her expression.
Every quiet moment of wonder.
“Young lady…” an elderly wolf called gently from a low stall, her goods arranged neatly upon Handcrafted vases of various shapes and colors caught Lylah’s attention at once.
cloth.
She drifted closer.
“Ezra, I need one,” she said, already scanning the collection. “For the Dawn Rose you gave me.”
