Valeria sat still, refusing to move. “Honestly, I wouldn’t have remembered if you hadn’t brought it up. My forehead still hurts, you know.”
Edward shot her a look. “If you were really hurting, you’d have said something. We’re in a hospital and you haven’t even bothered to get your wound checked.”
“I got caught up in everything and just forgot I was even hurt.”
She glanced at him, a little worried. “Did you bring my car over? It’s okay, right?”
“The car’s fine. I had the driver wait with it,” Edward replied, not missing a beat.
“Alright then, get up. We need to take care of your wound.”
“You’re a girl. Aren’t you worried about a scar?”
Valeria made a face. “It’s not like it’s going to leave a scar in a few minutes. And if it’s going to scar, it’ll do that no matter what I do now.”
Edward clearly wasn’t having it. He pulled Valeria up and practically dragged her off to find a doctor. Valeria barely had time to look back at Claire, let alone say goodbye.
Meanwhile, Edison was still talking with the police but kept an eye on everything else. When he saw Valeria being led away, he finished up and walked over to Claire.
“That’s Edward, the Black family heir,” Edison said, pointing him out right away.
Claire’s eyes widened a little. “You know him?”
“The Black family’s main base isn’t here in Apex. They’re from Cabinda. Our VIA Group actually works with them sometimes.”
