The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 146

As a doctor, she could tell right away whether the child was healthy.

“We know you’re a senior. We don’t want to disrupt your studies, but there’s something important we need to discuss,” the police officer said, his tone turning serious. “We found a third trafficker in that car.”

“They’re definitely working together, but there are still others out there, so...”

“You’re worried they’ll come after me, right?” Claire got the message immediately.

The police had even reached out to the TV station, asking them not to mention Claire or Valeria in the news coverage. The two girls had been brave, but that kind of courage could bring danger. Retaliation from traffickers was nothing to take lightly.

There had been a case once where a woman saw through a trafficker’s plan and ruined everything for them. After they got away, they took their revenge on her and her family in the cruelest way. Her child, who was just in kindergarten, vanished one day without a trace. The traffickers left a mocking note.

Years later, the woman found her child begging under a footbridge. The child’s hands and feet had been cut off. Every day, the trafficker made sure to tell the child why their life had turned out that way. The child grew up hating their own mother. Even after the child was finally rescued, there was no closeness, just distance and resentment. In the end, the child killed their mother.

No one wanted to see something like that happen again.

Claire frowned, her voice quiet. “I’ll be careful. Thank you for telling me.”

Back in the classroom, she could feel all eyes on her. Most of her classmates were sneaking glances and whispering. It was obvious they were talking about her meeting with the police.

“Claire, are you okay?” Sophia leaned in as soon as Claire sat down.

Sophia never believed Claire would do anything wrong. If Claire had stopped that woman from taking her kid to the doctor, there had to be a good reason.

Claire shook her head and gave a small smile. “I’m fine. The police just wanted to ask about what happened yesterday.”

Molly was eavesdropping, pretending to dig through her bag. She let out a sharp little noise.
