“Claire’s a natural when it comes to math. She actually took first place in the qualifiers.”
The partner, whose own son could barely pass his classes, just stared for a second. “Wow, Claire’s really something.”
He made a mental note to grill his useless son later and see if he’d even heard of the Math Olympiad.
“It’s not that big a deal,” Edison said, shrugging. “She’s a senior already. Honestly, we just want her to relax a bit. The family’s well off, so she could study anything she wants.”
“But she just doesn’t listen…”
Edison really was a pro at humblebragging.
The partner could only grit his teeth, feeling totally powerless against Edison's casual boasting. Who asked them to show off their perfect family lives to Edison all those years anyway?
Every time they saw him, they’d tell him to get married early, asking if he ever felt jealous of other people’s kids. Well, now the tables had turned. Edison had a niece to show off, and he did it non-stop.
A niece nobody had even heard about before.
This VIA Group… not only was the boss hard to read, but even the heir was a complete mystery.
What was Edison doing, bringing the heir out into the open like this? Was she really his niece, or was there more to the story? If VIA Group was going all in to train an heir, what would that mean for Edison’s future?
As soon as Claire excused herself to go to the restroom, the partner leaned over to Edison.
“With Claire being so talented, are you worried she’s going to grow up and leave you out of a job?”
It was nothing like Edison, who’d apparently just taken the leftovers nobody else wanted.
“You’re telling me you have a brother who’d rather farm than run VIA Group?” Babur couldn’t believe it.
Who could be that clueless?
“You think running a company is a walk in the park? It’s a heavy load, so much responsibility. Out in the village, life’s a breeze by comparison.”
Edison said all this, but honestly, if he really had to go back and farm, he’d go crazy from the quiet. That kind of slow country life was fine for vacations, but to stay there forever, doing nothing? No way.
Pandora always said he was made for the business world, and deep down, Edison knew she was right.
