The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 310

“Edison, who’s this?” Vicki asked, her excitement obvious.

Claire suddenly understood—Edison really did have family nagging him to get married. Judging from the way Vicki looked at her, it was clear she hoped this woman was the future granddaughter-in-law.

Edison started to introduce, “This is…”

He hadn’t actually agreed to Jenny pretending to be his girlfriend. But Jenny jumped in before he could say anything. “Hi, Grandma! I’m Edison’s girlfriend. My name’s Jenny.”

“Jenny! Hello, hello!” Vicki said, grabbing her hand and smiling warmly. “You don’t look like you’re from Solenia, though.”

Her thirty-year-old grandson had finally brought a woman home, and even if she wasn’t local, Vicki was more than ready to welcome her.

“I’m mixed,” Jenny said, grinning. “My mom’s from Solenia.”

Hearing that, Vicki looked even more pleased. “Oh, that’s lovely! I always worry if you were… you know, foreign, you might not understand our language. But if your mom’s Solenian, I bet you’re just fine.”

As long as they could talk to each other, that was enough for her.

Edison just sighed, a little helpless. His grandmother was taken in so quickly. How could she just believe whatever Jenny said with no questions?

A little ways off, Claire was chatting with Pandora about her time in Cabinda.

“I hadn’t even gone to find them yet,” Claire said, “but I bumped into my cousin and one of my mom’s old teachers at the university.”

She’d already told Pandora this over the phone, but clearly, Pandora wanted to hear every detail in person. Claire didn’t mind repeating the story.

“Your parents both went to that university, and they were both impressive. Of course there would be teachers who remember them.” Pandora nodded, like it all made sense.

She gave Claire a knowing look. “That’s one thing we share. You’re more like me than you realize.”

“Hm?” Claire was confused. She wasn’t sure what her grandmother meant.

Pandora smiled. “Dane is so much better than that ex-fiancé the James family set up. York never even stood up for you, not once. Even if you weren’t the real heir, after all those years, didn’t he care about you at all? A family that only cares about profit is nothing special. I don’t think you ever thought very highly of him, either. The only reason you went along with it before was because the engagement was already arranged.”

“Totally. I feel the same way,” Claire said, hugging Pandora’s arm. “Weren’t you worried I’d get stuck in Cabinda and not come back, though?”

The Churchill family had actually hoped Claire would stay for good, only letting her go when she insisted on coming home for the holidays.

Pandora tapped Claire on the forehead. “You think I don’t know you by now? You said you’d come back, and you always keep your promises.”

“These past few days, I’ve talked to Daniel on the phone. He says he’s doing a lot better,” Claire added, her voice warm with relief.
