The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 341

Claire wasn’t ignoring the guests on purpose. She was busy giving Kitty a bath.

So Edison went to greet them instead.

“Latham,” Edison said with a polite nod.

Back then, Latham hadn’t really paid much attention to Edison. Later, though, he found out that Edison wasn’t just some manager at VIA Metropolis. He was actually the head of VIA Group.

“Edison,” Latham replied, reaching out for a handshake.

Edison shook his hand and explained, “Claire’s in the middle of giving Kitty a bath. That’s why I’m the only one here to welcome you. I hope you don’t mind.”

They had no idea who Kitty was.

Cindy knew, though. Kitty never let anyone touch her, unless it was Pandora giving her a bath. But here, Claire was close enough to do all that herself.

Latham nodded, pretending it was no big deal. He had no clue who Kitty even was, but what could he say? It’d be weird to get upset with Edison over something like this.

Octavia frowned. Kitty didn’t sound like a person’s name. It had to be some kind of animal. Claire knew they were coming, and still, she’d rather wash an animal than greet them?

Claire wasn’t just washing Kitty, either. She’d have to blow-dry the pet afterwards. With how cold it was outside, the fireplace was going strong, or else Kitty would have frozen just from the bath.

Suddenly there was a shout from outside.

“Claire!”

Shirley had never been to The James Estate before. It all felt new and exciting to her. She rushed in, couldn’t wait another second, and called out for Claire at the top of her lungs.

Hearing her loud voice, Claire couldn’t help but laugh.

“You actually showed up?” Claire poked her head out into the hall.

“Told you I’d come see you!” Shirley bounced inside, full of energy.

She looked around with fresh curiosity. “This place isn’t nearly as bad as Cindy made it sound.”

“Sure, the house is old, but it doesn’t feel run-down at all. It’s nice and clean.”

Growing up in the countryside, Cindy was tired of it all. She dreamed of the city, of bright spotless rooms, the fancy style of The James Family house.

There, she never had to cook. Every morning, the housekeeper had breakfast ready. Someone else did the dishes and cleaned her room.

She finally had time just for herself.

When Cindy first arrived at The James Family’s home, she felt like Cinderella, suddenly inside a castle.

Now, she was learning how to act like a real princess.

She was meant to be one anyway. She didn’t break into a castle by luck. She was just coming home, to the place where she truly belonged.

“Cindy’s back,” Patti called out as she brought in a plate of food.

Cindy smiled and greeted her, “Happy New Year, Patti.”

“Happy New Year,” Patti replied with a wave, already heading back to the kitchen.
