The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 37

“I don’t think having epilepsy is that strange,” Claire said, raising an eyebrow at the woman’s outburst.

She turned to Jennifer. “Do you have a handkerchief? Or just a clean cloth?”

Jennifer looked at the manager, who quickly sent someone to fetch a fresh cloth and handed it to Claire.

Claire folded it up and gently placed it in the man’s mouth, just in case he started seizing and bit his tongue.

“Are you out of your mind? You’re actually putting a rag in his mouth?” The woman was practically shouting now.

Claire felt a headache brewing. “Could you be quiet? What do you want me to do, shove your dirty socks in there instead?”

Someone nearby couldn’t help but snicker.

“Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder. If he has a seizure and bites through his tongue, who do you think will take responsibility if something happens to him?” Claire really didn’t have the patience to explain everything.

But the woman wasn’t letting it go. “Who says he has epilepsy anyway? He never told me he was sick!”

She glared at Claire, arms crossed. “And who even are you? Are you old enough to know what you’re doing?”

Claire fought the urge to roll her eyes. “Just because he never mentioned it doesn’t mean he doesn’t have it. What’s your connection to him?”

“Why would he tell you something that personal?” someone else chimed in.

Most people still thought epilepsy was something to be ashamed of, maybe even a little crazy. Who would want to announce it to everyone around them?

The woman straightened up. “I’m his girlfriend. Why wouldn’t he tell me?”

That made the friend standing next to her widen her eyes. “Wait, Lily, you’re Eaton’s girlfriend?”

“Isn’t Eaton trying to date Babara?” someone else asked.

“Which Babara?” Lily’s voice shot up, clearly annoyed.

“The new girl in PR, the really gorgeous one…” her friend’s voice faded as she realized she might have messed up.
