Claire and Edison had just finished packing up when Ramsey showed up.
“Hey, Edison. I’m Ramsey, Chrystal’s son,” Ramsey said, introducing himself. Edison didn’t look all that friendly right away and studied him with a bit of suspicion. Claire was gorgeous, and Edison clearly wasn’t thrilled at the idea of this new guy hanging around, probably thinking Ramsey’s sudden helpfulness wasn’t entirely innocent.
“Hi,” Edison said, keeping his voice calm, not giving much away.
Ramsey let out a quiet breath. Edison definitely gave off a strong vibe, like he could toss Ramsey out any second. The way he watched made Ramsey feel like he was about to steal something.
While Ramsey started loading Claire’s boxes into the car, Edison spoke up. “Ramsey, Claire doesn’t have much. We can handle the move ourselves.”
“Come on, Edison, I’m already here,” Ramsey replied with a grin. “Let me do the heavy work. If I go home without at least helping, my mom’s going to give me an earful.”
Ramsey was smooth with his words. Edison eventually relented and let him pitch in.
Once they arrived at the new place, Ramsey stayed to help them get settled. He had an artist’s eye, so when he finished arranging things, the apartment looked both homey and stylish, not messy at all.
“Ramsey really does have good taste,” Edison admitted after looking around. It was his first time here too, and hearing that Ramsey set up the decor made him see the guy had real skills.
“Thanks, that means a lot.”
“I’ll cook the first meal here. Let’s go pick up some groceries,” Ramsey suggested.
Edison hadn’t expected anyone else to volunteer for cooking, but if Ramsey wanted to do it, he decided to take a break from showing off in the kitchen.
