Most of the snacks Edison bought weren’t the junk food kind. He even introduced Claire to a bunch of treats made by companies under the VIA Group. The more Claire learned about VIA Group, the more she thought back to the James family and just had to sigh. All that fuss over who’s the real heiress or not, but from someone else’s point of view, wasn’t Cindy kind of a fake heiress too?
They didn’t last long at the mall. After about half an hour, everyone was wiped out, so they headed home. Claire took a shower, then flopped into the massage chair for a good half hour while Pandora had already gone to bed.
Edison was still up. Claire could hear his voice drifting in from the balcony as he made a call.
“So, you’re saying SUNNY turned down VIA Metropolis but didn’t reject the other Apex malls?”
He’d been busy with Pandora all afternoon and hadn’t had time for work. He’d just told his assistant to find out which mall SUNNY was actually choosing. Now, the update from his assistant had him frowning.
“Send me the contact for the person in charge. I’ll call them myself.”
He got the number and dialed. The woman who answered sounded sharp and professional.
“Sorry, Edison, that was a company decision.”
“There’s got to be a reason your company passed on VIA Metropolis, right? I’m not here to argue, I just want to know if there’s something about our mall that didn’t meet your expectations.”
“VIA Metropolis was actually one of our top candidates for SUNNY’s launch in this market. Even if we can’t work together now, I hope we can be friends in the future.”
Since Edison was being so straightforward, the woman was about to explain. “It’s just that…”
Before she could finish, another call came through. She cut herself off.
“Sorry, I have to take this.”
