The Billionaire's True Heiress: From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 707

Claire was never the type to get flustered by praise, so she took it perfectly in stride.

"My mentor's medical skills are truly masterful; I've only scratched the surface and still have a long way to go."

Silas and Simon just assumed she was being modest.

The two men actually had a lot of medical cases they wanted to discuss with her.

Ironically, Lawler, the Western medicine doctor, found himself completely excluded from the conversation.

Lunch stretched on until two in the afternoon, and when Claire mentioned she had to rush back to the hospital to apply medication for a trauma patient, the two older men were still reluctant to see her go.

After seeing Claire off, Lawler also noticed that his father was in a much better mood.

Simon had tossed back a few drinks, his face slightly flushed. "I'm going to take a nap this afternoon. You two have a good talk."

Neither father nor son stood on ceremony; they really did need a good, long talk.

They had unresolved emotional knots between them, and using this opportunity to clear the air would be best for everyone.

"Come with me to the study," Silas told his son.

Lawler didn't refuse; what had to happen was finally happening.

After everything Claire had done, he firmly believed his father would finally step out of the shadows.

He wanted more than just reconciliation; he wanted his father to stop drowning in the past.

"I can see your prejudice against traditional medicine is gone," Silas spoke first once they were in the study.

Lawler nodded. "Reality taught me that clinging to my stubbornness was wrong. Claire is incredible, and there are other brilliant doctors out there. They said your treatment plan wasn't wrong..."

Lawler learned to understand his father, and Silas was finally able to step out of the darkness.

The father and son talked in the study for a long time; even after Claire had driven all the way back to the hospital, the two of them still hadn't emerged.

Claire didn't know what the father and son talked about, nor did she particularly care.

As soon as she returned to the hospital, Dr. Duncan called her away.

In truth, Dr. Duncan had been waiting for quite a while.

He had originally thought Claire would come to the hospital early in the afternoon, but by the time she finally arrived, it was almost time to clock out.
