The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 531

Raymond gave directions while keeping up a steady stream of casual chatter.

Vivica looked at him in surprise. "They already left the hospital?"

"Yeah, the ambulance brought them over. When they head back later, we'll have the ambulance pick them up again."

Money wasn't an issue, so they naturally took every possible precaution.

Vivica frowned with worry. "Are they really well enough for this? Risking their health just for a dinner together doesn't seem worth it."

Besides, she had other concerns.

They were at Raymond's house, not her biological mother's place.

If something happened during the meal, even if Raymond and his mother didn't mind, they had to consider how Raymond's wife would feel.

Some people were incredibly superstitious about medical emergencies in their homes.

But she didn't quite know how to voice that thought out loud.

Raymond pointed at the road ahead. "Take a left at the next corner, and it's right at the end of the street."

He glanced back at her. "It's fine. They're in such good spirits that their vitals have actually stabilized."

Vivica pressed her lips together and nodded, staying silent.

The moment the car parked, Hillary and Hayes were already emerging from the house to greet them.

A complicated mix of emotions washed over Vivica. She was genuinely happy, but she felt that showing it too openly would somehow be a betrayal of her own boundaries.

She settled for a polite, slightly reserved greeting as she approached Hillary and Hayes.

Joseph stepped out, circled to the back of the car, and opened the trunk to retrieve the gifts they had bought that afternoon.

Raymond frowned when he saw the bags. "Why did you buy all this? There was absolutely no need for that."

Joseph didn't say a word, simply continuing to pull the bags out.

A heavy lump formed in Hillary's throat as she spoke, and she fought back tears.

She knew this might be the first and last time their entire family would ever be in one room.

Her failing health was a ticking clock. Vivica was flying back to Riverdale tomorrow, and Chaim needed immediate medical treatment. Her daughter simply didn't have the time to constantly travel back and forth.

A sudden medical complication could take her life at any moment.

Before the tears could spill over, she reminded herself not to put any pressure on Vivica. She swallowed her grief and forced another bright smile.

Seeing that they were in decent spirits put Vivica somewhat at ease. She took Chaim's hand and guided him forward.

"Say hello, sweetheart."

Chaim looked up obediently. "Hi, Grandpa. Hi, Grandma."

"You're such a good boy, Chaim. Grandma is so happy to see you. Once I'm feeling a little better, I'll take you all over Sydville to play."
