"It's fine, I'll be careful," Joseph replied in a deep voice. Then, his tone shifted to concern. "How is the guy in the car? Is he badly hurt? Did someone call an ambulance?"
"Don't worry, Mr. Baird. The injuries are minor. It's nothing life-threatening," a bodyguard standing nearby answered.
Raymond and his men had already pinned the thugs to the ground. Two more men crawled out of the wrecked vehicle and, realizing they were completely outnumbered, tried to scramble away in a sheer panic.
But they were injured and couldn't run fast. With a single sharp command from Raymond, they were immediately tackled back to the pavement.
As the police cruisers pulled up, the officers leaped out of their vehicles with practiced precision.
Seeing the authorities arrive, Raymond secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
The thugs, who had been so eager to commit murder just moments ago, were now trembling as they stared down multiple police cars and heavily armed SWAT officers.
"We're done for! It's a trap! We've been set up!"
"Damn it, we were played! Joseph is over there! He wasn't even in the lead car!"
The men exchanged terrified glances, completely losing their nerve.
But one of them, clearly the ringleader, hissed a low warning, "Don't panic! Just say the crash was an accident, that we got the wrong person. Don't say another word! A lawyer will get us out of this!"
Raymond happened to overhear this. He walked over and kicked the man hard in the shoulder.
"Still dreaming, huh? Your bosses can't even save themselves right now, let alone care whether you live or die."
At these words, the men panicked even more.
However, the police quickly stepped in, taking over the scene and cuffing the men's hands tightly behind their backs.
With the police here, the danger was officially neutralized.
Only then did Joseph step forward and walk over to Raymond.
"Are you alright?" Joseph asked, knowing that Raymond had been tailing them closely and could have easily been caught in the crossfire.
"I'm fine."
"No, no, we're family. There's no need to be a stranger. You're on my turf right now. If you got hurt, how would I ever explain that to Vivica? She'd be worried sick."
At the mention of Vivica, Joseph's expression instantly tightened.
Now that this had happened, he definitely wasn't leaving tonight.
He still had to make a trip to the police station.
Raymond realized this as well and asked hesitantly, "You're definitely going to miss your flight, and we have to stick around to cooperate with the police investigation. You should probably call Vivica and let her know."
"Yeah," Joseph agreed with a nod. He then turned to Roderic. "Change my flight to tomorrow night. Assuming nothing else happens, we'll head back then."
"Right away, Mr. Baird."
Roderic nodded and immediately pulled out his phone to rebook the tickets.
As the police cars began to pull away, Joseph and Raymond instructed a few of their men to stay behind and handle the aftermath of the crash before getting into their own car to follow the authorities to the station.
