Vivica pondered for a moment. "Hard to say. Women can get a little emotional sometimes."
"Don't worry, I won't hold it against you," Joseph said with a smile, leaning in to kiss her lips again.
With that, the two were officially back to normal.
"You look like you've lost weight these past few days. Are you sure you're okay with all this morning sickness? Maybe we should go to the hospital tomorrow?"
Joseph had been wanting to bring this up for days, but since she had been giving him the silent treatment, he hadn't found the right moment.
Vivica shook her head against his chest. "I'm fine. I know my own body. Compared to when I was pregnant with Chaim and had to take care of a sick patient round the clock, my life right now is absolute royalty."
"Besides, with the weather like this, going out is just asking for trouble. I'll just take tomorrow off and rest."
Vivica was being incredibly careful with her body. Saving Chaim was the top priority, and she couldn't risk any mishaps.
"But if I take the day off, my work will just fall on everyone else. It's not fair to add to my colleagues' workload." She looked up at him, biting her lip. "What do you think I should do? I really hate inconveniencing people."
Joseph had one arm around her shoulder while his other hand absentmindedly played with her slender, fair fingers.
"That's easy. Whoever covers your work, buy them a nice gift. Get them something they really want but wouldn't buy for themselves. Do that, and next time they'll be fighting over who gets to help you."
"Really?" Vivica looked at him, a bit hesitant. "Wouldn't that come off badly? Like I'm just throwing money around?"
"Better than having money and being stingy. If you treat them to a meal, no one really cares about one free dinner. If you buy coffee and pastries, they might even complain about the calories. But if you ask a female colleague for a favor and later hand her a designer bag, I guarantee she'll be thrilled."
When Joseph put it like that, Vivica immediately thought of Holly.
"Okay, I'll do it your way. I'm going to take tomorrow off to rest."
"Good."
