The IVF Secret That Shook a Dynasty novel Chapter 630

Joseph gripped his phone, his knuckles turning white, his expression dark and tense.

"We're at the hospital right now. Vivica just finished her prenatal checkup. Everything is fine," Joseph said, his voice low, his mind wrestling with the decision.

"That's good... I didn't dare call her directly. I was terrified the shock would be too much for her. Do you—"

Deep down, Raymond really hoped Vivica would make the trip.

It was a four-hour high-speed rail journey, and a business-class seat wouldn't be too exhausting. Seeing her biological father one last time would at least offer her some closure.

But the words caught in his throat.

"I understand," Joseph said. "I'll find the right moment to tell her. I'll let you know what we decide as soon as possible."

"Okay. Thank you, Mr. Baird."

"This is our family matter. You're the one going out of your way. No need to thank me."

After hanging up, Joseph stood in the hallway for a couple of seconds before walking back into the room.

Vivica was sitting by Chaim's bed. They were talking about something, and Chaim was giggling happily.

Seeing him walk in, Chaim immediately cheered, "Daddy's back!"

Vivica turned around, and one look at her husband's face told her something was wrong.

She gently patted her son's head and stood up, walking over to him. "What's wrong? Do you have an emergency at work? You can go, don't worry about me. I'll stay here with Chaim today."

Joseph looked at her, his brows knitted together. After a brief hesitation, he finally spoke. "That was Raymond. He said... your father is in critical condition. They're trying to resuscitate him. He was asking if we wanted to go. It might be to say goodbye."

Halfway through his sentence, the smile on Vivica's face froze and shattered.
