The Lycan King’s Mark (Nevara) by Tiffanie L. Campbell novel Chapter 151

Chapter 151 Northbound

Nevara

The palace felt different in the morning.

Not calmer.

Just quieter in a way that made the tension easier to feel.

Normally mornings here were predictable. Staff moved through the halls with quiet efficiency, guards

rotated shifts, and somewhere down the corridor someone inevitably burned the first pot of coffee in the

kitchen.

Today there was none of that rhythm.

The building was alert.

Focused.

Urgent.

When I stepped into the council room, the reason was obvious.

Two of the long conference tables had been pushed together and covered in maps, tablets, and printed intelligence reports. Satellite images glowed across three different screens mounted along the wall. A digital map of the northern territories filled the largest monitor, red markers blinking across forested areas

near the border.

Kael stood at the center of it all.

His sleeves were rolled up, his hair still damp from a rushed shower, and he was leaning over the table studying the map like he’d been there for hours.

Thoren stood beside him, arms folded across his chest, jaw tight with the kind of restrained fury he rarely

showed in public.

I paused just inside the doorway, watching them.

Even from across the room I could see the exhaustion in both of them.

None of us had slept much.

Say that again,” Thoren said.

Kael tapped the map.

Here.”

His finger circled a dense stretch of forest several hours north of the border.

Scouts reported increased wolf activity in this area over the last two weeks.

Nevara.

1 shook my head.

Don’t start.

His jaw tightened slightly.

What about Jonas?

The question caught me off guard for half a second.

Jonas had barely left the palace since the chaos at the wedding. Security had tightened around him almost as much as around the throne itself.

If someone had been bold enough to kidnap Noah in the middle of a royal gathering, there was no guarantee they wouldn’t try something else.

But that didn’t change my answer.

He can stay here,” I said. With my parents.”

Thoren’s eyebrow lifted slightly.

My father practically ran the pack guard for twenty years,I continued. He knows how to handle security better than half the men currently assigned to this building.

I gestured toward the hallway.

And Michelle and Sabrina will be here too.

Between the palace guards, the internal security teams, and the council advisors constantly moving through the building, Jonas would be surrounded by protection.

He’ll be fine.

Thoren studied my face carefully.

You’ve thought about this.

Of course I have.

My voice softened slightly.

ThorenNoah is my nephew.”

Just saying his name made the tightness return to my chest.

I’m not sitting here waiting for someone else to bring him home.

The room went quiet.

Kael cleared his throat carefully.

For what it’s worth,” he said, Nevara was training with the guard before Tobias took her.

Eight guards plus the three of us.

Thoren nodded once.

Good.

Kael continued.

In addition to a group shifting to catch a trail, we’ll bring drone support and thermal scanners. If Noah is

anywhere in that forest, we’ll find him.”

My pulse picked up.

Somewhere out there, my nephew could be waiting.

Scared.

Alone.
