Norma sat quietly, sipping her tea while Dorothy talked.

“She’s got a real attitude, you know?” Dorothy was finally able to vent a little and just couldn’t stop. “She walks around like she’s better than everyone else. Honestly, besides her looks, I have no idea what Patricia and Anthony see in her.” She took a breath, still not happy. “And now Andrew is starting to take her side. It’s driving me crazy.”

Norma gently pushed a fresh cup of tea toward Dorothy. “Here, drink some water.” Her voice was calm as always. “After hearing all this, I’m actually curious to meet her.”

She wanted to see for herself what kind of girl could charm the whole Blair family. As for Kenneth… Thinking of the man her daughter had been hung up on for ten years made Norma’s brows crease with a complicated mix of feelings. She’d been hurt before, and she didn’t want her daughter to go through that again. Some people just aren’t meant to be yours. Sometimes, the best thing to do is let go.

About half an hour later, a line of black sports cars glided smoothly through the gates of the Blair estate. They stopped in front of the main house.

The car door opened, and Anthony stepped out.

“Anthony,” called one of the staff. Around him, maids and bodyguards all bowed their heads respectfully.

Anthony nodded back with a simple, “Mm.” He turned, leaned down a little and reached into the car, offering his hand to Charlotte. His cold expression softened as he looked at her. “We’re here. Are you feeling tired?”

“Just a little,” Charlotte replied, slipping her hand into his.

“Let’s get you upstairs so you can rest.” Anthony grinned and, without missing a beat, pulled her gently into his arms, kissing her lightly on the cheek. “Charlotte, welcome home.”

At the sight of Charlotte, everyone around seemed even more on edge, treating her with even more respect than they had for Anthony. In this house, everyone knew Charlotte was the real boss. And with two babies on the way, nobody dared risk getting on her bad side.
