The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1656

The road near Shirley’s house wasn’t easy to walk, especially with Andrew showing up in the middle of the night. Anything could have happened.

“Let’s just keep moving,” Andrew said, taking Shirley’s hand and leading her around the corner.

They hadn’t gone far when a sleek black motorcycle came into view, parked in a shadowy corner.

Seeing it, Shirley felt her worries melt away, little by little.

“So? Looks pretty cool, right?”

Andrew patted the seat and shot her a smug grin. “Bought this with my own money, you know. Had nothing to do with my family.”

“Why get a motorcycle?” Shirley didn’t budge. She licked her lips, frowning. Most rich kids at college rolled in with fancy cars. Nobody would have batted an eye if Andrew had flashed something expensive. But buying a motorcycle, and not even an expensive one... That was a surprise.

“Why bother with reasons?” Andrew’s smile was easy, sunlit. “From now on, I’m driving you home.”

In that instant, when Shirley looked at the narrow alley, everything suddenly made sense. Andrew had figured out her street was too cramped for a car. The motorcycle was the only way to get close.

“Come on, get on. Let me show you how I ride.” Andrew took Shirley’s backpack and hooked it around the handlebars, then handed her a pink helmet, lifting his brow. “You already missed the first bus. If you wait any longer, you’ll be late for class.”

“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” Shirley grumbled under her breath as she put on the helmet.

Andrew didn’t even try to deny it. “Yep.” He got on the bike and called out, “Hold on to me. Don’t fall.”

“Okay…” Shirley glanced around, her fingers finally clutching shyly at the back of Andrew’s shirt.

He looked over his shoulder, the ghost of a smile on his face, then started up the engine. The bike rumbled to life, and they swept out onto the road.

Shirley bit her lip, staying quiet.

“I know you do.” Andrew reached out and gently pinched her cheek, grinning. “Because I do, too.”

Those words made something warm bloom inside her chest.

She couldn’t deny it. She really did like being around Andrew.

“Okay, that’s enough.” Andrew gave her a little wave, flashing his usual casual smile. “Go on, get inside.”

But now he had a plan. He’d just keep sticking by Shirley’s side, no matter what. And wouldn’t stop until she fell for him, too.
