The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 1890

"Why didn't you ask him on the day of the lecture?"

Charlotte pulled a piece of candy from her bag, casually scrolling through the document.

Stella bit her lower lip. She didn't hide the truth, though she looked undeniably guilty. "There was a little incident that day. Roger was pretty upset."

"Oh?"

Hearing that, Charlotte paused and looked at her, eyes narrowing slightly. "Upset? What incident?"

From what Charlotte had observed.

Whenever Stella crossed paths with Roger, she usually kept her distance. Even when they were close, she rarely spoke to him.

How on earth did she manage to piss him off?

"Well..."

Stella glanced up shyly, looking deeply conflicted. "Some classmates found out we're friends and figured I must know Roger, too.

They asked me to get his autograph... and..."

Charlotte blinked, thoroughly intrigued.

"Deliver love letters." The second the words left her mouth, Stella ducked her head, her voice dropping to a guilty whisper. "I wasn't going to do it, but somehow, Roger caught me red-handed holding them."

Hearing Stella's explanation, Charlotte was suddenly reminded of high school.

Someone had slipped her a love letter, and Anthony had eventually found out.

She recalled how furious Anthony had been back then.

"Do you know why he was angry?"

Charlotte probed, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

Stella furrowed her brows, refusing to overthink it.

She shook her head.

No.

And she didn't want to know either.

"Alright." Charlotte let it go. She released the mouse and stood up. "I'm going to run to the restroom, and then we can discuss this when I get back."

"Okay."

Stella nodded, leaning over the table to scrutinize her notes.

A few minutes later.
