The Mocked Miss’s Hidden Crowns novel Chapter 679

Their eyes met, and Samantha’s bag slipped from her hand, hitting the floor with a loud thud. The sharp sound echoed through the empty hallway, cutting through the silence.

That noise caught the attention of the two people hugging nearby. They both turned, first catching sight of Kenneth, who looked like he’d seen a ghost, then Samantha, who seemed completely stunned.

No one said a word.

Charlotte froze, then quietly pulled her hand out of Anthony’s and stood awkwardly, not daring to move. This was not how she imagined things would turn out. Now, Anthony was really in trouble.

“You two…”

Samantha stared at them, then glanced over at Kenneth, her brows drawn tight. What on earth was happening? Wasn’t Anthony supposed to be dating Kenneth? So why was he getting cozy with Lottie now?

She stood there in confusion for a moment, then fixed Kenneth with a glare so cold it could have cut steel.

“Mom, it’s not what you think…”

Kenneth instantly broke out in a cold sweat. He tried to pull himself together and edged closer to his mom, completely lost for words.

“Anthony might be a little older, but he really cares about Lottie.”

Anthony nearly rolled his eyes. Great, as if Samantha needed another reason to notice the age difference.

“No, wait, that’s not what I meant…” Kenneth tried to backpedal, rushing to explain. “Before Lottie moved in with us, Anthony was the one who took care of her. He’s always been super thoughtful and pays attention to everything.”

Sometimes he even thought Anthony was going to spoil Lottie rotten.
