“We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently busy…”
Busy?
Who was she talking to? Was it Anthony again?
Newell frowned and tried calling again.
“We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently busy…”
Still busy?
He was about to try a third time when his assistant finally spoke up, unable to hold it in any longer. “Newell, I think Nine might have blocked your number.”
“Blocked me?” Newell took off his mask, revealing a sharp, handsome face and a deep frown. “I sent her money and she still blocked me?”
His assistant’s face was hard to read.
“Newell, you can’t just rely on money with Nine. Maybe you should figure out what she actually likes.”
“Is that so?” Newell’s frown deepened. “So, what does Charlotte like?”
The assistant hesitated, then reluctantly answered, “Money.”
If Charlotte was ignoring him, it probably just meant he hadn’t sent enough.
Feeling annoyed and more than a little competitive, Newell wired another billion to the research institute. The money disappeared fast, but there was still no response from her.
Newell’s face turned an impressive shade of green. When calling Charlotte didn’t work, he tried Jackson and Adonis instead.
Blocked. Again.
Newell was left staring at his phone in disbelief.
Anthony sent her money too, didn’t he? Why was she treating him so differently?
