"Lennox, how is the venue design coming along?" he asked in a low voice.
Lennox's respectful voice came through the phone. "Mr. Langley, everything is being prepared according to your requirements. It will be completed within three days. It absolutely will not affect your plans."
Callahan gave a hum of acknowledgment and hung up.
The night breeze was slightly cool as his gaze fell on his phone screen. It was the chat interface between him and Leilani. The last message was her brief reply: [Hmm.]
He stared at that word for a long time, the corners of his lips lifting almost imperceptibly, before he suddenly let out a soft chuckle. He hoped that when Leilani returned and saw this surprise, she wouldn't find it to be a shock.

Meanwhile, Clive had been looking haggard lately. Following his failure to secure investment from the Sloan family, and with no follow-up from Tamara to plug the company's financial holes, Luke had informed him that the company leadership was pressuring him to apologize to the Fulton family.
In the conference room at Glitz Entertainment, Clive sat at the end of the long table, his fingers tightly gripping a document, his knuckles turning white.
Opposite him, Director Stuart Larson, wearing a cold expression, slid a stack of data reports toward him. "Clive, after the Fulton family withdrew their capital because of you, the company lost nearly thirty percent of its project funding. The board is extremely dissatisfied with you right now."
He tapped the table, his tone leaving no room for argument. "The board's stance is that if you personally go and apologize to Judie Fulton and bring the investment back, the company can overlook your mistake this time."
