The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 512

"How many days was she throwing up? How long has this been going on?" Milford demanded, his intense stare making Della nervous.

"J-just the few days right before she left for her maiden home," Della stuttered. "It happened for several days in a row. I caught her throwing up two or three times..."

Gloria's expression drastically changed. She exchanged a meaningful look with Milford, the exact same thought flashing through both their minds: Is Tamara pregnant?

Milford immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Tamara's number.

When the call connected, Tamara's soft voice came through the speaker. "Milford?"

Milford's tone was impatient. "When do you plan on coming back?"

Tamara paused for a second before explaining in her usual gentle voice, "Clive has been in a bad mood lately, so I want to stay and keep him company for a few more days."

In reality, Tamara hadn't even seen Clive since she returned to the Sloan estate. However, she remembered the excuse she had originally used to leave, and she couldn't let her cover blow now.

Milford narrowed his eyes. He had heard the rumors about Clive's recent downfall, but what could a married-off daughter possibly do to help by returning home? The excuse sounded incredibly flimsy. But that wasn't what he needed to investigate right now.

Milford quickly shifted his interrogation to her alleged illness. "I heard from Della that you were feeling unwell before you left? What was that about?"

There was a noticeable silence on the other end of the line, followed by Tamara's light, cheerful laughter, as if she were thrilled by Milford's concern. "Oh, it's nothing! I just ate something bad a while ago, and my gastritis flared up."

Milford's expression remained entirely blank. "But Della said you threw up multiple times before you left. And why have I never heard about you having gastritis before? Tamara! Tell me the truth right now, and don't make me force it out of you!"
