The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 516

Though Leilani's voice was soft, her resolve was unshakable.

Sensing her unwavering determination, Floyd realized that no amount of persuasion would deter her. He could only let out a defeated sigh. "You... you're simply too stubborn for your own good."

He pondered for a moment before offering a compromise. "How about this? I have a former student working with an international medical relief organization. He happens to be stationed near the Northern Myanor border providing humanitarian aid right now. I will ask him to gather some recent intelligence on the area for you."

A wave of relief washed over Leilani. "Thank you, Mr. Dillon."

Even though she wasn't sure if Floyd's student knew anything specific about Savage Mountain, it was at least a glimmer of hope.

Floyd let out a proud, knowing huff. "Don't thank me just yet! I'll let you know as soon as I hear back. But promise me you won't do anything reckless. Wait for my arrangements."

Knowing Leilani's tendency to take swift, decisive action, Floyd was genuinely worried she might plunge into the danger zone alone before fully understanding the risks.

Understanding his well-meaning concern, Leilani smiled helplessly and agreed. She wasn't naturally impulsive, but Floyd was a respected elder mentor; his anxiety came from a place of genuine care.

After ending the call, Leilani's thoughts still lingered on Savage Mountain.

Her phone buzzed. It was Callahan letting her know he was waiting downstairs. The notification jogged her memory—she had promised to have dinner with him that evening.

Outside the apartment complex, Callahan's sleek car was parked smoothly by the curb. He checked his watch. He was fifteen minutes early for their date.

With his window rolled halfway down, Callahan rested one hand lazily on the steering wheel, his dark eyes fixed on the building's entrance. The balmy May breeze carried a faint floral scent, gently ruffling the open collar of his crisp dress shirt.

His phone vibrated with a text from Leilani: [I'm coming down now]

A faint smile touched Callahan's lips. He was about to type a reply when he caught sight of the lobby doors opening from the corner of his eye.

Leilani stepped out, dressed in a simple beige knit sweater and fitted jeans. Her long hair was loosely gathered at the nape of her neck, exposing the delicate skin of her collarbone. Clutching a small handbag, she walked toward his car with steady, measured steps.
