The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 532

Callahan had faint dark circles under his eyes, and his jaw was tense. It was obvious he hadn't slept a wink all night.

Leilani parted her lips, her throat feeling incredibly parched. "...Water."

Callahan immediately reached for the glass on the nightstand. Carefully supporting the back of her neck, he fed her a few sips.

As the warm water soothed her throat, Leilani finally spoke, though her voice remained slightly raspy. "How long was I asleep?"

"Ten hours."

After the police took the gang into custody yesterday, they had rushed her straight to the hospital from the outskirts of the city.

At first, Callahan thought she had simply fallen asleep from exhaustion. But upon arriving at the hospital, she remained completely unresponsive no matter how many times he called her name. The sheer panic had nearly undone him, prompting him to shout frantically for the doctors.

Callahan set the glass down, his fingers gently brushing against her cheek. "How are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable anywhere? Does the wound still hurt?"

Leilani shook her head and tried to prop herself up to speak to him properly, but Callahan immediately pushed her back down.

"Don't move," he instructed firmly. "Your wound was just bandaged. Don't tear your stitches."

His tone left no room for argument, yet his actions were exceptionally gentle, completely terrified of causing her any pain.

Leilani looked at his tense profile and suddenly whispered, "Callahan."

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry." She looked at him with calm but sincere eyes. "I stood you up yesterday."

Although getting kidnapped was certainly not part of her plans, she knew how much he had valued the celebration banquet. Not showing up as promised must have deeply disappointed him.
