When it came to Talbot Langley, Judie had plenty to say.
“You know, Leilani, Talbot has always been after Callahan’s job. But lately, I don't know what’s gotten into him, or if someone’s pulling his strings, but he’s become so much more aggressive. Even Dante can barely keep him in line…”
Leilani’s expression darkened as she fell into thought.
So, was this the secret Callahan had been hiding from her all this time…?
But how did that explain the woman at the hotel?
After the eighteen takeout orders yesterday, Leilani wasn’t nearly as angry with Callahan anymore.
But the image of him spending an entire afternoon at a hotel with another woman still bothered her.
Leilani turned her head to look at Judie.
Judie was still chattering away, wiping down the apothecary cabinet with a cloth.
After a moment of consideration, Leilani spoke tentatively.
“Judie, do you think… given Callahan’s personality, that he’s capable of cheating?”
Leilani’s voice was so soft that Judie, focused on her task, didn’t catch it at first.
“Huh?”
Once she processed the question, she instantly understood why Leilani was angry with Callahan.
Leilani must have accidentally stumbled onto part of his proposal setup.
Since Leilani didn't know he was about to propose, she naturally jumped to the wrong conclusion.
No wonder! Judie had thought that given Leilani’s personality, no other reason would have been enough to make her give Callahan the silent treatment for so long.
So, she thought he was cheating.
It was no wonder Leilani was so furious!
