The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 655

At that moment, Carola couldn’t hear anything else. Only one thought echoed in her mind: there was no place for her in this family anymore.

“You just think I’m an eyesore, don’t you? Fine, I’ll leave! I’ll leave right now!” she shrieked hysterically. “I won’t be an eyesore to you anymore, but don’t think you can sell me off to someone else!”

She turned to storm upstairs. Fearing she might do something to hurt herself, Lance grabbed her wrist.

“Carola! Calm down!”

“Let go of me!”

Carola struggled wildly, flailing her arms. In the chaos, her fingernails accidentally raked across Lance’s cheek, leaving a thin, bloody scratch.

The air froze.

Carola stared, stunned, at the red mark on her brother’s face, her hand trembling. “Lance, I…”

Lance wiped his cheek, looked at the blood on his fingertips, and his eyes turned to ice.

“Carola,” he said, his voice terrifyingly calm, “whether you like it or not, you are getting married.”

Carola’s brief freedom was over; she was confined to her room once more.

Fearing she would pull the same trick again, Lance had her room cleared of anything that could be used to cause harm, including any sharp objects or jewelry, leaving her with no way to threaten them.

Carola collapsed onto the floor, tears streaming silently down her face as she watched her family leave.

Just as Doreen had predicted, learning about the marriage only made Carola’s resistance more frantic.

The next day, she started a hunger strike.

Knowing her daughter’s temperament all too well and afraid she would actually harm herself, Doreen couldn’t focus on work. She took some time off to stay home with Carola.
