The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 760

The car fell into a brief silence, but it wasn't awkward—just a quiet, unspoken mutual comfort.

Her reaction only cemented the decision he had made.

After dropping her off at home, he headed straight for his own study.

Staring out over the sleeping city, he dialed a secured line.

"Lennox."

His voice was dark and commanding in the quiet room.

"Keep buying up the Sloan Group's floating shares and whatever retail stock you can find."

"Tell Fitch Sherwood not to make any moves just yet. I want all those shares securely in our hands."

A cool, professional response came from the other end.

"Understood, Mr. Langley."

"We currently hold eleven percent covertly. Factoring in the ongoing acquisitions from the secondary market, assuming the Sherwood Group doesn't heavily interfere, taking absolute majority control is only a matter of time."

"Fitch isn't a problem."

"We've got him hooked with that investment capital. He wouldn't dare do anything reckless right now."

"Proceed exactly as planned."

"Yes, sir."

Hanging up, he gazed out at the distant city lights, his eyes dark and unfathomable.

When all this was over, he was going to make the Sloans realize that throwing Leilani away was the greatest mistake they ever made.

Everything they had discarded, someone else was going to cherish.

And everything they had cost her, he was going to pay back in spades.
