The Prison-Made Queen novel Chapter 839

The rest of the meal passed in tense silence. Once they finished, Callahan and Leilani prepared to leave.

Dante held onto Leilani's hand at the door, repeating the same protective warnings.

"Be careful on your trip. Call me as soon as you land. Keep your wits about you..."

Callahan smiled helplessly. "We know, Grandpa. You've told us three times already."

Bagot stood off to the side, watching the exchange with a sour scowl.

As soon as Callahan and Leilani stepped outside and headed for the driveway, Bagot quickly said his goodbyes to Dante. He grabbed Beatty and rushed after them.

"Callahan! Wait!"

Callahan stopped in his tracks, wondering what idiotic stunt Bagot was going to pull now.

A flicker of deep irritation crossed his face as he slowly turned to face his breathless cousin. "What do you want now?"

Bagot jogged up to them, his chest still heaving slightly.

He planted himself in front of Callahan, his eyes first darting to Leilani. The look he gave her was filled with absolute disgust, as if she were a piece of trash on the pavement.

After glaring at her, Bagot turned his attention back to Callahan, his tone aggressively self-righteous.

"Callahan, as family, I need to say this. If I don't, I'm going to lose my mind."

"I used to really respect you! Everyone in our generation looked up to you. You're capable, you're ruthless in business, you were the gold standard for the rest of us."
