Max walked over, and as soon as Mr. Lisbon saw him, he sat up and greeted him with a warm handshake and a polite smile.
"Mr. Lisbon, please, have a seat."
Mr. and Mrs. Lisbon exchanged an apologetic glance, their regret written all over their faces. Now, they finally understood exactly what had caused all the trouble.
Darin had gone all out to protect Max’s woman.
Today, the Lisbons brought nothing but sincerity. Mr. Lisbon leaned forward, almost pleading.
"We're hoping to meet Evelynn and apologize to her in person."
Tatiana sat off to the side, arms folded, her expression growing darker with every word.
In the end, Max didn’t give them any clear answer. He just sat there, unreadable.
Finally, Miranda broke the silence. "I think it's best if you both head home for today."
The Lisbons could only nod and leave, hope now resting on Miranda instead.
Once the front door closed, only Miranda, Tatiana, and Max remained in the living room.
Miranda turned to him, her tone heavy with disappointment. "Max, this was such a minor issue. The Lisbon family is already willing to compromise and make things right. Felicia wasn’t hurt badly at all. Was it really necessary to make things so dramatic? You were way too impulsive. This isn’t like you at all."
Everyone knew Darin was Andrea’s brother. He would never have sided with Felicia unless Max told him to.
Felicia and Carol got into a little fight, ending up with a few minor bruises, and Max had let it become a huge spectacle.
Max, still calm and unreadable, finally spoke, his voice low and flat. "The Lisbon family was always going to fall apart sooner or later. If they don’t learn the hard way, they’ll never change."
The truth was, the manufacturing company’s problems were their own fault. Their technology was flawed, and this wasn’t the first time people had called them out online. The Lisbons had always managed to hush it up before, stopping things from blowing up into a bigger scandal.
Even with all those warnings, they stayed arrogant. They never cared about fixing their technology or running the business better. All they did was silence their critics and pretend everything was fine.
Still, that kind of company—one that cared only about its own profits while ignoring everyone else—managed to control a huge part of the market.
Darin wanted to take that market away from them.
This time, he wasn’t counting on Max’s help. He’d already built connections with some powerful people, who had wanted to take the Lisbon family down for years.
