The Ugly Wife’s Stunning Comeback (Felicia and Max) novel Chapter 625

He scrolled through and found her latest post. Sunshine, picnic food, green grass, a kite in the sky, everyone smiling together. In one, Felicia’s smile was blindingly bright.

He gave the post a quiet like.

Turning to Max, he spoke quietly. “Felicia took Anne out for a barbecue today.”

She hadn’t shared any photos of Anne, but he knew she was there.

Max didn’t say anything, just stood up and brushed off his pants. “It’s still early. Let’s do a few laps.” Without looking back, he strode away.

Darin watched him go, silent.

Around five-thirty, as the last rays of sunlight melted into the grass, everything was painted a warm, golden-orange. Everyone started packing up, laughter echoing as they gathered their things.

Heather took Yara and rode with Greg. Jeremy hopped in with Anthony. Since Felicia had enjoyed a little wine, Luke offered to drive her car back. Anne cuddled up next to Felicia in the backseat, barely lasting a few minutes before drifting off, her head tucked against her mom’s shoulder.

Luke glanced in the mirror, thoughtful, knowing Max was planning to celebrate Anne’s birthday in Australia. That meant Felicia and Anne would be leaving soon.

“Heading back to Oakridge Estate?” Luke asked as the car rolled past the glowing fields.

Felicia just watched the scenery slide by, holding Anne close. She hadn’t been in contact with Max for awhile. She hesitated, then nodded. “Yeah. Let’s go home.”

Luke simply nodded, understanding there was no point in asking more.

It was dark when they pulled up outside the villa. Anne still hadn’t really woken up, so Felicia gently picked her up, cradling her against her shoulder.

“You can take my car back,” she told Luke quietly. “Be careful on the road.”

He gave her a small smile. “Get some rest, Felicia.”
